Below, you will find a list of questions that are frequently asked during the interviews we conduct here at the Hall of Honor. If you are considering making an appointment for an interview, please take a moment to review these questions.

  • Where are you from originally? Where did you live when you entered the service?
  • In what part of the Armed Forces did you serve? Initially? When wounded?
  • What was your training like? How long were you in training?
  • What job did you have while you were in the service? What kinds of responsibilities did you have?
  • Who were some of your leaders and what were they like?
  • What can you tell us about the friends you had while you were in the military?
  • How did you keep up your morale? The morale of others?
  • Did you encounter any prejudice toward yourself? Toward others?
  • Did you keep in touch with family and friends? How?
  • What was hardest about going into combat?
  • Were you prepared to die? Were you afraid?
  • What were the circumstances of you wounding? What kind of medical treatment did you receive?
  • What went through your mind when you were wounded?
  • When did you receive your Purple Heart? Where were you?
  • What does the Purple Heart mean to you?
  • What was your life like when you first returned home from combat?
  • Is there anything you would do differently if you had the chance?
  • How did your experiences in the military affect your life in the long run?
