Wounded in the area of the Mekong Delta in So. Vietnam. Mr. Fernandez was operating as a back up unit of another unit that was under fire. When they arrived to assist the scene was like a nightmare, firefighting close to the woods. After the firing stopped and the airplanes cleared the area they were instructed to walk through the woods and sweep the area. They picked up guns, found many Vietnamese soldiers dead. After they went across they started to receive fire from a sniper, his rifleman stepped in a 105 round trap, three men got killed, 5 others wounded including Mr. Fernandez.
