Staff Sergeant Troy was the tail gunner on a B-24 Bomber on a mission to Germany. His aircraft was attacked by German fighters and crashed. Sgt. Troy was believed to have gone down with the plane and his remains were not recovered.His name is listed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Florence American Cemetery, Impruneta, Italy.
