Sergeant Abbadessa was the radio operator aboard a B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bomber that crash landed in the North Sea near Langeoog Island, Germany, after being attacked by enemy aircraft. Sergeant Abbadessa's remains were never recovered, and his name is inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Cambridge American Cemetery in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
