I was behind the point man when he received a sniper round through both ankles, so I had to go up front and shoot in the direction of the sniper, When we got the point man in the med evac. The Platoon leader saw blood on my pants and told me to get on the chopper also.
At the Field Hospital, my leg was x-rayed and the shrapnel was located by my femur bone, so the Doctors said we are going to leave it in your leg, over time it will come out, it is still in my leg. Sent me to our Forward Fire Base to have it cleaned twice a day and then back out in the field.
