The Coast Guard cutter Tampa was sunk by the Imperial German submarine UB-91 off the coast of Wales, with the loss of all hands on board.
On November 11, 1999 the Coast Guard awarded the Purple Heart to all 111 crew members of the Tampa in a ceremony held at Arlington National Cemetery.
