Private First Class Vincent was wounded for the second time on July 28, 1944 when he was knocked off his feet by a German 88 shell's nose-cone which was loaded with high explosives. Miraculously, the shell didn't go off with the impact. It was imbedded in his shoulder, and was later surgically removed.
