Mr. Hull's sister writes, " Sherrill, as he was known by family and friends, was on the USAT Dorchester - The Merchant Marine Troop Ship which was sunk due to enemy action (German Torpedo Boat) on Feb. 3, 1943 - This was the ship which also carried the famous four chaplains who gave their lives by giving their life vests to soldiers and went down with the ship..." He is listed on the Tablets of the Missing at the East Coast Memorial, New York City
