First Sergeant Quinn was Killed in Action when he engaged in fighting the Japanese forces on Tarawa, Gilbert Islands, during the first day of fighting. During this time his remains were not identified. In October 2016, his remains were disinterred from the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu and in 2017 identified. First Sergeant Quinn's remains were buried 4 May 2018 in New Hampshire. First Sergeant Quinn's name is permanently listed on the Courts of the Missing in the Honolulu Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii.
