Sunday, July 6, 2008 2pm - Independence Day weekend

Old Fashioned Band Concert with the Excelsior Coronet Band. Dressed in period uniforms and playing authentic 19th century instruments, the Excelsior Coronet Band re-creates the sights and sounds of a Civil War Era brass band. Many of our patriotic and veterans customs come from the Civil War Era, as do the earliest soldiers eligible for the Purple Heart. Enjoy a picnic snack, spread a blanket, and listen to the stirring marches while spending a lazy summer afternoon at the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, come rain or shine.

Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 2pm - In Celebration of Purple Heart Day

Big Band Concert with the Sammy Kaye Orchestra. "Swing and Sway" with the authentic 1940s sounds of one of the original orchestras of the era. Now directed by the Hudson Valley's own Roger Thorpe, the Sammy Kaye Orchestra's Sunday Serenade was what many Americans were listening to on the afternoon of December 7, 1941—the day the United States entered World War II. The sixteen-piece orchestra, with two vocalists, plays hits from Sammy Kaye, as well as selections from Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman. A highlight of the show is the tribute to the America's Armed forces. Bring your lawn chairs, a picnic snack and let the "sweet" sounds of Sammy Kaye take you on "A Trip Down Memory Lane".
